Flashcards

I had intentions of starting up my blog again (been there, done that) and when I went on I found this draft of a post that I was going to do in 2011(?!?!?!?) I still LOVE these flashcards (definitely a labor of love) and decided to post them now.

For Christmas this year(actually Christmas 2010) I wanted to make something for my niece and nephews (triplets). My sister-in-law is very crafty herself and really appreciates all things handmade. One day late last fall I came across a blog Scrap~A~Doodle~Dee, now known as Paper Crafts by Candace. She is hugely talented! She has provided lots of inspiration. But it was one project in particular that had me completely fascinated. She made flashcards. I knew I had found the gift that I wanted to make for the triplets. Thank goodness I found them in October because I knew they were going to take a lot of work. I started planning right away. I tried to come up with a list for the alphabet (I didn't want to outright copy all of Candace's cards) but I was limited to the Cricut cartridges that I owned so some of them ended up being the same. All the fonts, numbers and images came from a variety of Cricut cartridges. Some images were enhanced with Stickles. By the time I was done, I had spent over 40 hours on these. But it was worth it because I knew they would be appreciated, used and loved. (I would definitely not make these as a gift for just anyone.)

First the numbers...

Now the letters...

** Not sure what I am doing wrong in the upload, all the images were horizontal but when I loaded them to here some flipped to vertical. I tried correcting and it just isn't working so vertical they stay!)
